Hertz announced the sale of at least 20,000 electric vehicles. The move is a mayor’s turn on the rental car company that pushed EV’s rental lately. The massive sale includes a hundred Teslas.
“Collision and damage repairs on an EV can often run about twice that associated with a comparable combustion engine vehicle,†Hertz CEO Stephen Scherr said in a recent analyst call, according to a CNN publication.
Despite electric vehicles costing less to maintain, the higher depreciation and repair costs have been a financial pain for the company.
How will Hertz sell its electric cars?
The company informs the sales of its electric vehicles will be at auctions as well as their direct clients.
For how much money will Hertz sell Teslas?
The prices of the Teslas on the Hertz sale list are between $25000 and $14000, depending on the models, miles, and conditions of the vehicle.
You could find a Tesla Model 3s for $14,000. However, for that price, the unit probably won’t qualify for the tax credit.
Teslas between $20000 and $25000 will qualify for credit taxes, especially in California.
This could be your best opportunity to buy a Tesla for the lowest price ever.
If you decide to take advantage of this massive sale, take your time to read the small letters and consult an expert before any move.
What will Hertz do next?
The company said the money they bring from the EV fleet will be used to purchase more gasoline-powered vehicles.
The operation brings a loss of about $245 million due to the EV’s car’s depreciation. An average of about $12250 per vehicle, the company said in an SEC filing.
